Artwork in Perspective
"Attentiveness to the essence of each picture, the ability to dance with nature’s light and shadow, to play the instruments of color, rhythm and movement, until a chord of harmony is brushed; these are the true spectacles of a painter." Denise Bunkert
A Master Colorist and distinguished member of the Lake Country Pastel Society and Outdoor Painters of Minnesota, Denise Bunkert draws from nature, music and poetry to inspire luminous paintings. Her vast experience in design and art aids in creating paintings which range from healing, pastel landscapes to whimsical and sophisticated wall murals. Her awards and exhibitions are numerous and she is frequently invited to teach classes at gallery exhibitons of her work.
Denise graduated with honours in Graphic Design in 1992 from the University of Wisconsin Stout. Though she served in various corporate creative design roles for over a decade and taught college level design courses, her true vocation since childhood, has always been that of a fine artist, freelance painter and teacher.
Believing that a passionate instructor can inspire students and nurture creativity, Denise teaches with a style which has been described as “freeing”. While incorporating music and play into her painting and instruction, she encourages students to go beyond their creative comfort zones.
Denise's many achievements include publishing a limited edition book of paintings and poems, “Essence: Nature in Vision & Verse”, 2005 and a recent collaboration with an English poet, in creating a 2009 book combining paintings with poems, "Mirrors of the Soul: Reflections on Life's Seasons". Denise Bunkert lives and works at her home studio near Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she is surrounded by the beauty and bounty of nature that so often appears in her paintings.
